Relayware is an active in the Association for Strategic Alliance Professionals. This is a group that includes many channel managers as members, and every year at their annual conference, there are many strong presentations on channel management.

This year, Relayware customer Nutanix presented the key to successfully implementing a partner relationship management (PRM) solution.

When Nutanix was looking for a PRM solution they knew their priorities:

  • Strong channel growth
  • CRM integration with real time sync
  • Works out of the box
  • Room for customization as needed

The project leader on Nutanix side shared with conference attendees tips for a successful implementation, including:

  • IT and business managers are both involved and on the same page with each other and with Relayware.
  • Detailed plans that are documented and shared with everyone involved
  • When planning the timeline, allow for a buffer to accommodate unknowns that shift the timeline

Nutanix also suggests talking to other channel managers who have gone through the PRM implementation process, so you can learn from them and get ideas about errors to avoid. And finally, when selecting a PRM, choose a vendor that has a company culture that is similar to yours. As you and your PRM vendor will be acting as a close-knit team, it’s important to have similar working practices.
