Tips to Supercharge Productivity in Just 5 Minutes

Posted on October 20 by Stuart Phipps, Relayware IT Operations Manager

Here at Relayware, we are working incredibly hard to help our customers, and our customers are working incredibly hard to help their channel partners. And their partners are working hard to finalize the deal.

Nonetheless, sometimes it doesn’t feel like it’s enough. You look around, seeing all your super productive coworkers, and you feel not just tired but also stressed. Then, it becomes harder to focus, which doesn’t help productivity, your colleagues or your partners or the end goal.

This is why we hear, "Work Smarter, Not Harder." But you’re pretty smart or you wouldn’t have so many people relying on you. So, is there really a smarter way? YES! By changing a few habits, you can easily get motivated, recharge and help all those folks depending on you.

Here are some of my tips to Supercharge Your Productivity in 5 Minutes:

  • Take a quick break. It may sound counter-intuitive, but you’ve heard it before. Our bodies are not designed to work at peak performance for extended periods without breaks. After around 90 minutes, our heart rate, hormonal levels, muscle tension and brain-wave activity begin to decline, and our bodies naturally crave rest. If you are working for 3 hours at a stretch, you will actually get less done. Productivity is not about being busy. It’s about getting more done. Take a 5 minute break every 60 minutes to recharge your batteries for the next break time.
  • Exercise You might be exercising in the morning or evening. But do you exercise at work? Light exercise will pump up your energy, give you a fresh burst of confidence and make your creativity flow! Exercising also releases endorphins, making you happier, and boosting your motivation to tackle the next 60 minutes. In your 5 minute break — Take a Walk. It’s as easy as that.
  • Have a healthy snack. Do you skip meals or have only 3 large meals a day? This means that at some point of the day the sugar levels in your blood will fall, which affects your energy and your emotions. Grab a piece of fruit in between meals to make you feel energetic and back in the game.
  • Breathe deeply. Hectic days usually come with a bucket load of stress. A simple way to reduce stress is to take 10 -15 slow deep breaths. Try to focus your attention on your breathing only, and do not let thoughts interfere. Making this a regular habit will keep stress outside the door.
  • Take a 5 minute vacation, for example a beach. No, you don’t need a teleported. You just need to lean back in your chair, close your eyes and visualize yourself in a gorgeous location. Listen to the waves, feel the warm soft sand beneath your feet, smell the sea! And your stress… what stress?
  • My Ultimate Tip: Listen to ‘Power Songs. You need a Power Song — that is a song that has the power to magically lift your mood. In 3-4 minutes the right song can inspire and motivate you to take on the next challenge on your To-Do list. Keep a playlist of your Power Songs handy as rocket fuel for your motivation.

While partner relationship management and partnering automation software helps productivity, sometimes it really does come down to our own momentum, and I hope these help you power up!
